Little A Collective is a Long Beach-based artist group working across Greater Los Angeles to create accessible, educational, and uplifting arts programming. Rooted in each member’s individual studio practice, the collective brings together social practice, public art, craft, and narrative storytelling to engage communities in meaningful ways. Collectively, their work explores themes of migration, self-discovery, and liberation movements. As artists and activists, Little A Collective is committed to making art accessible, amplifying marginalized voices, and creating projects that support activism, community, connection, and systemic transformation.
Little A is made up of Noelle Averett, Wynn Barnard, José Loza, and Toria Maldonado. Born and raised in Long Beach, José and Toria met while studying printmaking in their Bachelors programs at Cal State Long Beach. They then crossed paths with Noelle and Wynn, two transplants from Northern California and Seattle, in the CSULB MFA program. With artistic practices ranging from mural design, printmaking, illustration, fiber arts, graphic design, installation and animation, the four connected over their expansive definitions of “fine art.” In 2023, the four began collaborating on social arts programming. In 2025, the group moved into a shared space, formalizing their collaborative ethos of engaged, accessible, art-making.
Their artwork speaks to themes of social change, home, and uplifting one another. Through the elevation of everyday artforms, Little A aims to nurture a reciprocal relationship with the city they call home, offering a visual voice to the community that has fostered them.
